I shot this at the San Diego Zoo but I wasn't paying attention to what it said this little guy was on his enclosure. So after talking about doing it forever me and The Blondie finally went and bought memberships to the zoo. If you live in S.D. buying a membership is the only way it makes sense to go to the zoo. A day pass is $33.00 per person but you can get a dual membership for $79.00 that is good for an entire year of entry into the zoo AND the Wild Animal Park. You also get two free guest passes so there's another $66.00 right there. Back to the critter photo. I shot this with a Sigma 150mm f2.8 Macro lens. It's not a lens I use very often. Mostly just for work in fact. I can't really remember why I bought it other than to replace the old Sigma 180mm f2.8 Macro that I gave away because it wouldn't work on my newer camera bodies. Come to think of it, I can't remember why I bought the 180mm way back when. I'm sure I had a good reason and I've made good use of the both of them so I don't regret the purchases. The trip to the zoo made me wish I had the Canon 70-200mm f2.8. The little bit of extra reach would have been nice and since the animals and the fences they are behind won't cooperate it would have been nice to frame by zooming. Although I wouldn't have gotten this shot because the zoom won't focus this close. Every thing is a trade off. Occasionally you see threads on message boards wanting to know what lens you would choose if you could only have one. I hate those threads. They make my head hurt. So... what lens would you choose if you could only have one for the rest of your life? ;) Canon EOS 20D
